Primary Requirements: Use an original design or commercial pattern with a star or many stars. 24 “x 24 maximum, finished quilt with a label on the back. Color: You will be given a 6” square of fabric. You must use at least a recognizable portion of the square and THREE or MORE of the colors found in this fabric, EXACTLY MATCHING THE COLORS! Do not use any color that is not represented in the 6” square. To see the coordinating “Florentine” fabrics go to www.pbtex.com. Categories: Pieced Appliqué Multi-technique Ribbons will be awarded for the most votes received in each category; 1st 2nd and 3rd along with a Viewer’s Choice Award. We hope you will want to participate in this challenge. Who knows you might win! Your Challenge quilt is due at our August meeting; don’t miss out on the fun Questions we were asked at the March meeting. ¶ Colors used in the quilt must exactly match those in the sample square of fabric; they do not need to be from the “Florentine” fabric line, use fabric from your own stash. ¶ Black or chocolate brown are allowed. ¶ A star (or more) must be in the quilt design – not an added embellishment (such as a button). ¶ Use any method of construction i.e.: Appliqué, pieced, paper pieced, etc., with or without embellishment. ¶ The 6” square of print fabric does not count as the 3 other fabrics; you may include more than 3 matching fabrics. More 6” squares of fabric will be available at our April meeting. After checking with our local Quilt shops for more Florentine fabrics you can also check out the following websites.
