QUILTS FOR ROTAPLAST (Cleft
palate repair surgery)
The Rotary Club
supports a project to take doctors to poor areas to perform cleft palate
repair surgery on people (mostly children) who cannot afford the surgery
and/or
There are no
facilities in their area. The doctors go to countries such as Bolivia,
Venezuela and Columbia three times a year to do their work and fix the
smiles of their patients. They are requesting quilts that will be
given to the children who have the surgery. You can read more about the
project and see a video of one of their trips at
http://www.rotaplast.org/. They request the
quilts be made as follows:
Size 38-40" wide x 48-60" long. These
will fit in the boxes they have for shipping.
Materials 100% cotton fabric and
batting, Warm and Natural is perfect.
Design Use bright, child colors and
themes. Panels are fine or use simple patterns, machine pieced, as
these quilts must be utilitarian and will be washed in streams and
rivers.
Quilting Please do not tie the quilts.
Machine quilting should be 3"-5" apart.
